Christmas 2006

I am still a bit upset that we didn’t think to get any of them with their presents wrapped….or with the tree :(
There’s always next year!

Four Month Letter

Four Months Old
December 29, 2006

I can’t believe that it’s been four months since you came into our lives! You are both such great joys to your Daddy and I.

You’re both teething now. We feel terrible that there isn’t much we can do to help the pain but even with the teething you are both in good spirits. What great babies you both are.

Taylor, you have two bottom teeth now. They show when you smile or squeal, which you love to do a lot. Nana and Daddy said you spent pretty much the whole day yesterday talking and squealing. You were eating, napping or chatting up a storm. They both got a real kick of that yesterday.

Callum, you still haven’t had a tooth break through. But, it’s right there and I know that it will be coming through real soon. You have gotten so much more talkative and love to squeal and talk up a storm like your brother. You are so expressive when you “talk” to me. You raise your eyebrows and look so serious like you are discussing very serious matters with me.

You had your first Christmas! I know that you didn’t really know what was going on. But you both loved the lights on Grandma’s Christmas tree and neither of you wanted to nap Christmas morning. There was just so much going on around you that you couldn’t stand to miss anything.
You got a ton of presents from your Grandma Jill & Grandpa Floyd. You got your jumperoo that we’ve had set up in the house for a little while now. Neither of you are quite sure if you like it just yet. But you do love that you can stand on your own and look around. You got another Baby Einstein video, Superman onesies that I am sure Grandpa Floyd loved. You both had full stockings. You got little vibrating jitterbugs that just crack you up. There were other things in your stocking that you could probably care less about like baby toothpaste, new washrags and little things like that. We went to your Great Aunt Mary’s house and you got to visit with your second cousins Jonathan and Krissa again. Aunt Mary bought you some outfits and sleepers. You played with Nana a lot while we were there.
We took you to see Santa for the first time at Oxmoor Mall. What a great looking Santa he was. Everyone was so excited to see twins sitting with Santa. You were both great and didn’t cry and get scared. Callum you looked like you would have loved to grab Santa’s beard. You were both so distracted at all the lights and decorations around his giant throne.

You are still spending days with Aunt Ashley & Nana during the week.
You always have a blast with Nana, playing on your blankets on the floor. She reads to you and plays with you and your toys. She just loves spending time with you and would rather that you never have to nap so she can always play.

You are both so steady now if we help you sit up. You will look to whatever direction you hear someone’s voice coming from. You both love to stare at daddy and give him great big smiles. I love watching you with your dad.
It’s so amazing how fast you are both growing. It’s going to be no time until you are up and walking. Until then I will cherish every moment that I can pick you up and snuggle you and cover you with kisses.
Both of you and your daddy are the loves of my life.
We had a wonderful Christmas. We went to my mom's and to Josh's aunt's house.
We ate so much food and got so many nice things.
The boys had a great first Christmas!

I took a ton of pictures of the boys on Christmas Eve morning while we played on the floor and I finally got a picture of the ever elusive front teeth of Taylor’s!!!

Taylor is such a ham for the camera.

He’s started getting bashful though. He’ll cover his face or cover it with his blanket. It’s adorable!

I hope everyone has a very happy day.
We'll be going to my mom's in the morning with the boys to open gifts and then probably across town to see Josh's mom.
We did our Christmas at our apartment today and we both loved everything we got each other.

Winter Solstice Celebration

The Winter Solstice Celebration was pretty neat last night. There was a HUGE turnout. The place is an old meat packing plant that they totally gutted and transformed into an arts center. There are tons of shops and people's art studios all throughout the inside of the place and we spent the majority of our time in the courtyard for Josh to do their fire performances. He didn't realize how many people really watched them through the night til I showed him the pictures of the crowds around them. He definitely got people's attention! It was cute, before their last performance these two boys came up to see if they were going to perform again and said they had seen them five times already.
There were these huge paper mache puppet things that these two people were walking around in. They were pretty creepy and I took pictures of them just standing in the crowd because it looked so odd!

The girl Laurel that does poi and fire finger dancing.

The crowd and the weird puppet things.

My honey.

It was awesome and they had a great time performing and made some pretty good tips.
He also got approached by some lady that does fire breathing for a local circus here in town to see about him performing with them.
Pretty neat.
We had our company Christmas dinner last night. It was really good food. We had a good time. Josh got all dressed up and looked so handsome. I really wish I had thought to take pictures.

The boys have been sleeping in their cosleeper at night now. They have been sleeping either with me or in their bouncy seats since they were born. Because of the reflux they used to just scream when we would put them in their cosleeper to sleep....but now as long as they are swaddled it goes just fine.
I moved the cosleeper out in the living room for now until they get adjusted to sleeping in it. But, it looks like I'll be back in my room soon.

Yay for my big boys. Hopefully from there we can move them into their cribs because they are already waking each other up and don't fit quite as well in the cosleeper together as they could have when they were smaller.

We've started talking about trying again for another baby in the future. We don't want one right now, and thankfully to the NuvaRing we won't be....but we figured that we can plan for when we want to start trying again. We figure a three year difference between a new baby and the boys would be good. It took us 9 months of no protection to get pregnant this time plus the pregnancy 9 months....so we know that there is a year and a half there at least.

I can't believe the boys are going to be four months old in nine days! It just trips me out that they have been here that long. My goodness. They grow so much everyday and are such good babies.
I can't imagine our lives without those boys.
I still have days where I can't believe how fast it was that I became a single mom of none....to engaged and a mother of two!

I wouldn't change a thing.

I still have this nagging feeling like I'm not done Christmas shopping. I want to get the boys some more things seeing as we only got them one thing....but my mom bought them a ton of stuff.
We barely have room for all the baby stuff we have in our apartment right now.
Goodness that place needs to be gone through and cleaned. I am sure I have stuff I can either sell, or give to Goodwill.
Who has time to do that when we both work 40 hours and have twins!?
A couple pictures for your viewing pleasure!
Some from the day we went to see Santa, the boys dressed up in their overalls.
I have one of Taylor in his Jumperoo that Grandma got them for Christmas and the boys last night while we were having some floor fun.

Santa

We took the boys to see Santa today. They were both super interested in all the lights and decorations around him and didn't really pay much attention to him....except Callum was real interested in his beard. He reached out a couple times sort of trying to touch but I guess decided against it! haha.
I had to try and get them distracted from the lights and beard to look at the camera but only successfully got Taylor to look, Callum still couldn't pull himself away from the beard!

Well, Taylor is definitely teething. He has a little tooth on the bottom already breaking through. You can rub your finger on his gums and feel the sharp little tooth!
I can't believe it! My boys are going to have teeth already! Holy crap!
Callum's tooth is still in the process of breaking through but you can see it and feel it under the gums.

My mom said I had a ton of teeth by the time I was six months old. She finally had to stop breast feeding me a couple months later because I would bite her so much.....
That apparently stuck with me for quite some time, since I would get in trouble in preschool for biting other kids.

I put Taylor in the jumper thing last night and he sort of liked it. He looked more confused than anything! haha. I took pictures, I'll have to upload when I get home.

I have been bad and haven't taken many this week at all.
:(
I'm hoping with some Christmas money we can take the boys to get some professional pictures....that and we still need to make it Santa.
I have about thirty loads of laundry to do tonight.
Goodness I can't wait til we move.

Teething

I think the boys have both started teething. Callum isn't drinking nearly his usual amount, he just chews on the nipple and spits all the formula all over himself. He'll chew on my finger if I put it in his mouth. Taylor is the same, although he is still eating like a champ. I can feel little hard bumps on both of them in the same place, the bottom front area. I don't know how long it usually takes for teeth to break through, but I'll soon find out!

I realized that since I've become a mom I really can't watch the news. I just don't have the stomach for it. I can't stand hearing that some kid was shot at school, or another kid slit the other kid's throat. I just can't handle it. I'm way too emotional about it.

So, my bad mom story for the day. Yesterday morning Taylor was a bit fussy and I had to take a shower and start getting ready for work. He had eaten and been burped and we had some snuggle time. So, I found the Wiggles on tv and he immediately stopped crying and just went crazy for it. He was kicking his feet in the bouncy and squealing like mad. We apparently have a Wiggles junky. Whatever came on after he didn't like so much, so it must have been all the singing he really dug.
Callum will turn his head whichever way when I'm changing him or putting on clothes so he can see the tv. Not good. I have little tv junkies. But, I do try and put on kiddie shows when they're trying to look. I blame my mom's 50 inch tv. They never showed an interest until that thing mesmerized them.

I can't wait til we can get their exersaucers so they have a little more play time other than just on the floor with me holding toys over them. They have both been pretty disinterested in the play mat we bought them. We got the little fishy one, it doesn't have much to look at and they're bored with it.
